250 - Monday, September 20th - My gym is also a community center, where they have after-school classes for kids. By the time I get to the gym and get about halfway through my workout, the classes end. This leads to hordes of obviously-to-busy-to-give-a-shit parents screaming up into the parking lot in their empty SUVs and parking in places where parking is not allowed, because properly parking your vehicle is obviously not necessary when there are children involved.
Notice that perfectly decent parking spot literally right next to that BMW SUV? Yeah, she ignored it and parked in the cross-hatched area which is NOT a parking space. Because…well, I don’t know. Not being a parent, I don’t really know what would be so all-encompassingly important that I couldn’t at least attempt to park in an actual parking spot. Perhaps if my child was on fire, or if they had projectile diarrhea, but aside from that…
Of course, the saddest part of this photo isn’t the BMW in the not-a-parking-spot, but the car parked RIGHT BEHIND IT with it’s flashers on. That gal sat in that car, blocking other people from going by, for 10 minutes (I know this because I was watching from my treadmill). At around the eight-minute mark, I saw her pick up her cell phone and make a call. Moments later, a child on a cell phone emerged from the building and walked to the car. So, not only could she not be bothered to park her car, but she couldn’t even be bothered to get out of her car to get her child.
Simply amazing. Sometimes, I weep for humanity.
