Out of Surgery
Marley just got out of surgery to remove the cancerous lump on her leg. Everything went well and the vets feel that they got good margins on the tumor and that she will make a full recovery. I feel like a weight has been taken off my chest.
It really is true that “you don’t know what you got ‘till it’s gone.” Marley’s not gone, but the very real fear of cancer...

I don’t even have a kid, and this is depressing. Why can’t we treat our children and parents like this here, exactly?

I’m becoming more and more certain that he’s borderline retarded. I’m not trying to be funny. I actually think he’s lacks the intelligence to sufficiently deal with society.

Justin Townes Earle arrested in Indianapolis « My... →
As a big Justin Townes Earle fan, this makes me sad. I hope that a) he can get his life back on track and go thru rehab without incident and b) that he was taking a swing at the club owner and accidentally hit his daughter. It doesn’t make the hissy fit any more justified, but I want to believe that he’s not the kind of guy who hits women.
There’s no defending a man who punches...

Health insurance: Big medical insurers to stop... →
Hey, look, another example of why the Health Care overhaul should have gone straight to the root of the problem and just instituted universal health care without trying to appease the insurers.
Health care should not be a for-profit industry. Health care is a right, not a privilege.

Since I don’t watch television, I didn’t know until today that Superchunk was on Jimmy Fallon last night. Honestly, I didn’t know that Jimmy Fallon was still on TV, but that’s beside the point- SUPERCHUNK!
Here they are in a web-exclusive, performing “Precision Auto.”

The Angry Rich and Taxes - NYTimes.com →
I want to slap the taste out of the mouths of the arrogant people who actually stand behind this kind of shit. $400,000 per year income isn’t rich? Fuck that and fuck you.
Pay your goddamned taxes and pray that the hordes of unemployed and destitute don’t come and dust through your gated community with torches and pitchforks.

It's a Sarcoma
I just got off the phone with our vet. The news about Marley wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for, but it’s also not the end of the world. She has a low-grade soft tissue sarcoma. So, yes, it’s cancerous, but she has two things working for her:
Since it’s low grade, that means that we caught it pretty early on, which increases the chances that it hasn’t spread too...

Kudos to Rajan Zed.
This talk of “militant atheism” bugs the shit out of me. I was raised in a Christian household and my mother took us to Lutheran Church. I don’t doubt that I got a portion of the value system that I have today from that upbringing. I’m glad that she gave me that foundation.
Every day I struggle with faith. I don’t consider myself in any way to be...

Remember, folks, Eisenhower was a war hero, a patriot and a Republican. The kind of Republican that our country sorely needs in this day and age; one that is fiscally responsible, intelligent and understands that what is in the best interest of the country isn’t always...

It is a Tumor
So, there’s not going to be a picture of the day from Thursday. I know that you’re all let down and disappointed in me. I apologize.
My day yesterday took a turn for the worse when Sara called me up out of the blue during my lunch to tell me that our oldest dog, Marley, has a tumor the size of a golf ball on her front right leg. We’ve had this scare before with Marley. A few...

Rush Limbaugh Apoplectic Over Rove's O'Donnell... →
Say what you want about Turd Blossom, but out of all of these morons, he’s the only one with any actual intelligence. I hate him from sunup to sundown and disagree with everything that he has ever done, but he is not stupid.
Limbaugh, Palin and O’Donnell erased any doubt about their stupidity long ago.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
I knew all along that Obama is/was a centrist. That’s why I voted for him. Not because of all of the “hope and change” rhetoric, but because I believed he was someone who could bring our fractured country together and move us forward.
I should have guessed that the right wing would find many baseless ways to attack him, because,...
